Iberry BT10- Complete Review

Prologue

Finally iBerry BT10 tablet has been launched as well. The tab is priced at a stunning price of Rs. 14990/- which I feel is a bit high (considering the BT07 price is Rs.6990) but is still far below any 10” tablet available in the market. Both tabs are very same & It can be considered as an advanced version of the iBerry BT07 tab, so this is not just a review but also a mild comparison of both BT10 & BT07.

Dimensions

I must admit that the looks of BT10 are pretty good.

• Dimensions- 26.5×16.5×1.5cm & weight is 702Gm.
• Display- 10.1 inches diagonally.

CPU Details

• CPU Model- Telechips 8803

Display & touch

• The BT10 has a 1024×600 WXGA TFT LCD display whereas the BT07 has 800×480 WXGA TFT LED display. On paper, display of BT07 is better but I did not find any mouth watering difference between the 2 displays. Both are pretty good & the resolution & detail in both are amazing.
• The major difference between the 2 tablet is the touch. BT07 has resistive touch but the BT10 has a 6-point capacitive multi-touch. Being a capacitive touch, it is very sensitive and makes the tab a pleasure to use.

Camera

• The BT10 has 2 cameras, front & back. While BT07 has only front cam.
• Back cam- 2MP
• Front cam- 0.3 MP
• The quality of front cam is crappy, while that of back cam is decent.

Connectivity

• Both the tablets have built-in wifi (version- 802.11 b/g), but the BT10 has a sim card slot.
• Provision of sim card slot means that one can connect to the internet through both 3G & 2G(GPRS) network. It also allows making voice calls & has a built-in microphone.
• Bluetooth is absent from both the tablets which cripples the connectivity.
• A-GPS which stands for assisted GPS is however present but it is not as effective as a traditional GPS.

Sound Quality-

• The BT07 tab has a mono speaker on the backside of the tab. The BT10 on the other hand has 2 speakers, both on the back side. Although this is a big improvement in terms of hardware, the sound does not improve significantly. The clarity is good, but the overall voice still remains low.
• Headphones are provided with the tab. These are plug-ins, quality is fair but I prefer my Panasonic headphones over them.

A striking difference between BT10 & BT07 is that BT10 does not have a USB port. BT07 has a USB port & can be used for connecting external 3G dongles & pen drives.

• Video : Up to 6 hours
• Music : Up to 48 hours
• Browsing over Wi-Fi : Up to 7 hours

The battery life while making video/audio calls is not mentioned or specified anywhere.

Sensors

Both the tabs have the same sensors

• Accelerometer
• G-Sensor
• Gyro Sensor
• 4-way auto rotation

The 4- way auto rotation is a little slow in BT07 but is comparatively faster in the BT10. The tilt control is highly sensitive & makes gaming experience one of the strongest feature of the tab.

Video Playback

• Both the tablets support full HD video playback. The video player in both the cases is the best feature that iberry has provided in its tabs. They support almost all the video formats.

• Formats include, MKV, AVI, RM, RMVB, MP4, MOV,VOB, DAT, FLV, 3GP, RV, WMV, AVS,H.264, MPEG4, Xvid, DivX, H.263, VP8

• Although it is written that it supports WMV files, both the tabs failed to play WMV files. For this format, video player can be downloaded from the android market. The extremely fast processor ensures that HD videos are also played without a glitch.
• Both the tabs are also loaded with Adobe Flash Player 10.2.

Gaming

Gaming is another strong feature of both tablets. The presence of 3D graphics OpenGL ES 2.0 is responsible for providing a good gaming experience for 3D & HD games. The presence of a highly sensitive tilt control makes gaming experience an addiction.

Applications & Utilities

• There is no difference between the apps pre-installed in both tabs.
• The official Google android market is pre-installed which gives access to thousands of applications.
• Office Suite pro is pre installed for viewing & creating word, Excel, PPT files. Facebook, Twitter & youtube are also pre-installed.
• The tablet also comes with an application called ‘shelves’ which allows user to read & bookmark e-books.
• PDF documents cannot be directly accessed. Adobe Acrobat reader has to be downloaded from Market.

Good things about BT10

1. I find the video playback as the best feature about both iberry tabs. They support a variety of formats & even support subtitle files.
2. File manager is pretty concise & easy to use. Helps to quickly select, view files & toggle between internal memory, SD card & USB for copying/cutting & pasting.
3. The motion sensor while playing games is highly sensitive & takes gaming experience to a whole new level.
4. The tablet can also be used to access external hard disk which do not have an external power. I tried my Toshiba 500gb USB powered hard disk & it worked perfectly.

What went bad in BT10

• Customer support is a problem which many consumers have had with iberry. The customer care numbers usually go unanswered. However, in my case, they usually replied within a day or two, to written queries left on the website.
• The pre-loaded launcher, theme, menu style/icons in both the tabs did not impress me & makes the 10” tablet look like a cheap buy. I have downloaded Go launcher for the same problem.
• Sound quality stays bad for a tab with such high specifications.
• Absence of a USB port is a drawback for me as it highly limits the transfer of data between the tab & computer.
